We are delighted to introduce Chris Parry who recently began working with us as Operations Support, and is based in the control room at our Head Office.
A foundational career opportunity
At a key point in his career, Chris saw joining 4 Site Security as a vital step for his future. "I saw this as an ideal chance to progress my career. When I came for the interview, I was impressed with the strong vision and values held by the company, and I felt even more strongly that this was somewhere that fitted my own personal values."
He felt that the company's integrity and clear direction would provide him with the foundation he needed. "This move would give me the stability I needed at this stage in my career and the grounding to grow long-term," he explains. "This was an important career jump, and one I wanted to get just right."
A change of pace and perspective
Chris's new role is highly proactive, offering him a variety of tasks that get him out and about to see the daily operations - a welcome change from his previous job.
"Having done night shifts in my last role, I like the fact that I get out and about to see the daily operations," Chris shares. "The role is proactive, with key responsibility, as I visit clients and colleagues on site, carry out site surveys, and arrange key drop-offs and
collection and access. There is such variety and the beauty is that no two days are ever the same."
He describes his best assets and skills for doing the job: "My adaptability and willingness to do whatever is required of me, often at short notice, will help me to do the job well," he explains. "It’s great to have good organisational skills for the pre-planned work, but the nature of the job is to expect the unexpected. It can be highly stressful so you need to be able to manage the stress well and stay objective"
Feeling Right at Home
Chris has quickly become a valuable part of the team, crediting his colleagues for the smooth transition.
"Everyone at 4 Site Security has been so friendly and I was helped to feel at ease straight away. I already feel I’ve been here for a long time. I feel at home and people are so helpful and welcoming."
He adds how much he appreciates the supportive environment. "As a young team member, I’m delighted that I am never treated any differently by people who have much more experience than me. To the contrary, I’m proactively encouraged to give my opinions and ideas and these are valued. I have been given confidence and empowered to ‘speak up.'"
He sums up his experience simply: "I’m happy to be here. No complaints at all. I don’t look at my job as just another day at work and hugely look forward to it."
Crazy for cars
Outside of work, Chris describes himself as "a bit of a nerd." His biggest passion is cars. "I’m massively into cars and you will mostly find me with my friends working on and restoring them," he shares. "Our current project is restoring an original 1945 Beetle. I love anything to do with an engine."
